Tiina works as a Research Team Leader at the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd. She started her career as a research scientist above 25 years ago to develop new energy technologies, like biomass gasification and pyrolysis, district heating and cooling technologies, and combined heat and power plants for municipalities and industries. During the last 15 years her major duties have been to deliver and disseminate energy and climate policy impact analysis for the Finnish Government and Parliament, European Commission, and the Nordic Council of Ministries. Tiina is also experienced in strategy support for companies and she is a member of several international networks and expert groups focused on scenario modelling and policy impact assessments. Recently, her research has especially focused on scenario planning and holistic scenario analysis for the transition of low carbon and carbon neutral societies, including analysis of consumer behavior, supply and demand of renewable and non-renewable natural resources, and global scenario analysis to a well-below-2°C world. Tiina and her research team on Energy Systems and Climate are currently supporting Finnish Government in formulation of Finland’s new low emission strategy up to 2050, which should be ready early next year.
