Since March 2018, Rolf Luyendijk is Executive Director of the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC). WSSCC is a United Nations-hosted global, multi-stakeholder membership and partnership organization that fosters collaboration between governments, international organizations and initiatives and, civil society stakeholders to accelerate progress towards SDG 6.2 on sanitation and hygiene. Prior to coming to WSSCC, Rolf worked with UNICEF in Afghanistan. For 12 years, Rolf was the lead from the UNICEF side on the WHO/UNICEF Joint Monitoring Program for Water Supply and Sanitation (JMP), responsible for monitoring progress towards the water and sanitation MDG targets. In that capacity he has supported countless countries in improving their national WASH statistics and has presented at numerous international WASH conferences and events. During his last years at the JMP he was instrumental in mobilizing WASH Sector partners around the formulation of the SDG 6.1 and 6.2 targets on water supply, sanitation and hygiene, a process facilitated by the JMP. Rolf worked for over 30 years in the WASH sector and has background in Public Health and Environmental Sciences.
