Last year, my co-founder Laura and I were in our final year of our Business Engineering studies at Ghent University. We had the opportunity to travel to Shanghai for our master's thesis, to discover and research what Europe can learn from China about Circular Economy and vice versa. Once in China, we were confronted with the unsafe and environmentally hazardous recycling practices, such as Guiyu. This struck us and we wanted to do something about this. Moreover, during our research for our thesis we read many beautiful theories about introducing circularity in companies. But a lack of concrete business cases, unless efforts are made in their supply chain that require a very large investment and change management. We are now full-time social entrepreneurs and we believe that with Recy-Call we can clean-up the e-waste dumps worldwide!
